Cat's Baby Blue Syndrome?
Jul. 4th, 2008 05:22 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
You guys know about Baby Blue Syndrome ne? Do you think it could apply to animals as well?
Okay, it's a weird line to start a post sorry. so let me start over... XD
I might have told you guys that I often feed some stray cats around my house, ne? some time ago, one of them, (my mom named her "Bambi") was seen pregnant. she's been coming to my house ever since she was still a kitten, and I can always find her around my house. when she was pregnant, I have to admit that she might be a bit too young, though (but she's a cat!) and so we just wait for when she'd give birth to her babies.
not long ago, it seemed like the babies had been born, but we couldn't find them around our house. we thought that she might hid them somewhere, so we didn't bother. but even after giving birth, she seemed to always hang around my house. so we thought, when would she takes care of her kids?
Last Friday, when I was away for a sleepover in my friend's house, the kittens had been found. my mom text messaged me that they heard some meowing and when she asked my brother to check, he ended up bringing the kittens home! apparently, they were abandoned by their mother. the helper next door was the one who found them stuck on the rooftop, so she brought them down and wait for their mother to come pick them up. but Bambi never took them. she said that Bambi seemed to be scared over her own babies, that she wouldn't feed them. and I've seen myself too, when I tried to shove the kittens to her, she immediately back down and hiss. I've read a manga about a dog who won't feed it's babies for some psychological reason. I wonder if it's a Baby Blue Syndrome or what.
Anyway, since the mother won't take care of them, my brother ended up... mothering them. Since I was away and my mom was sick, my brother took the job to care for them. my Mom said it's only natural since he was the one who brought them home, so he should take care of them!
I was home on Sunday evening and was rather awed by the sight of my brother mothering the kittens. he sat on the floor, the three kittens meowing around him, and he was giving them milk. since they are still really small (my mom said when they first come, they barely could open their eyes) they can't drink by themselves. the helper next door has given him an unused injector... (eh, is it the right word? you know, the thing used to give injection) and so he feed them milk with it. since they can't really drink (even until now), we should force them a bit. they had to drink the milk or they would die right?
anyway, the kittens are in preety good health right now. let me introduce them! oh, we haven't name them yet since we still can't clearly distinguish their gender XD;;
so we call them "Whitey", "Blacky", and "Yellowie" in our native tongues XD;;
What's with that look of utter horror? XD
This is Whitey. it has quite an appetite, but it's a bit difficult to feed. and it's really loud too! Whitey still can't really poop properly it seem, and it's mther isn't around to help :/
but nonetheless, Whitey is quite an active kitten. Whitey liks to crawl on someone's foot. that's ticklish you know XD

Oooh, nice leg, don't you think? XD
This one is Blacky. Blacky is the most difficult to feed. It has the appetite but since kittens are suppose to feed from their mother's tits, Blacky always prefer our toes or fingers to suck rather than the injector. (well the other two also love to suck on our toes) and it's a bit hard to force the milk to Blacky. when I can't handle it, I give it to my brother. he's better than me at forcing milk to their throats ^^;
Oh, and Blacky's quite a sleepyhead too. a bit narcoleptic perhaps. he could walk and suddenly fell asleep >.>
My mom insits on naming it "Leo", but my bro opposed. he said "What if it's a female? and even if it's male, can you come up with a cuter name?" LOL

Waaah! don't stretch your neck too much or your head will fall off!! O__O
And this is Yellowie! this is my favorite one, not only because it has the cutest face, but also because it's quite playful and... easy to feed! Yellowie is pretty smart. when we shove the milk-filled injector, it knows what to drink from, and it has a large appetite too. it's fun to feed Yellowie x3
I think it's going to be a fatty when it grows up XD
oh yeah, my mom said that Yellowie's face resembles Yoda of Star Wars. LOL.
Cute aren't they? well, my mom said that their face isn't that cute, but my bro said that if we keep them as pets and spoile them, they will be cute eventually XD
Oh, here's the pic of my bro and the kittens:

The kittens and their "mother" XD;;
Hawhawhaw... his image taking care of the kittens is just... well, I must say I'm quite surprised he's actually that loving XD;;
does that mean he's ready to be amother father? XD
Oh well... neeway do you guys have any ideas of what their names could be? :D
We still have to think of their names XD
Oh yeah, Miko is a bit jealous with the three of them. He usually don't stay home much, but yesterday, he slept all day long in my room. LOL, don't worry Miko I still LOVE you!! you'vebeen my cat for 5 years!
Oh, there's another one who is jealous of all the attention we give to the kittens... which is, my father >.>
He was complaining of how me and my bro put so much attention to the kittens, that we even took the trouble of feeding them and cleaning their mess (their "leftovers"). even my mom is often coo over them (well they are babies!
Geez, my dad even took the trouble of leaving shoe stains in our living room so that we would get our ass to clean that up.
Gee, what an adult *rolls eyes*

My hamsters are fine so far, pretty mischievous. I do have an entry with pictures of them: http://speadee.livejournal.com/39829.html
I've never heard of the Baby Blue syndrome, but I wonder what is wrong with Bambi to make her abandon her babies. Good thing your neighbor, then your brother, took care of them. They are cute. Your father needs to learn to be less bossy and self-centered. He should know that the new kittens need a lot of care. To tell the truth, someone like your father does not receive the attention he gets.

Wah, your hamters are cute! i used to have hamsters several times but they always died T_T
Baby Blue Syndrome is a Psychological problem that often attacks mothers who have just given birth to their babies. the syndrome includes being overly worried about having a baby like "Is this my child? can I really reaise a human's child?" or even being afraid to her own baby. well, that's the explanation I can give only based on my basic knowledge though ^^;;
People said that humans shouldn't touch newborn kittens coz then their mother wouldn't want to care for them anymore. maybe that's the case. my neighbor found the kittens on the rooftop and then they took them and put them elsewhere. maybe that's why Bambi abandoned them.
but now Bambi has come to her sense, and she is now with her babies at my frontgarden :D
Yes, I know my father is annoying :/
he acted like a BIG baby, duh... he's not even cute >.>
hahah... ^^;;
