ext_266985: (yullen regret)
I've been in a similar situation, to tell you the truth.
As I was leaving home in the morning to pick up a friend of mine from the train station three years back, I've seen my cat outside and called him to come back home, but he didn't want to. So I ignored him and left.
An hour later, when I was going back, I noticed a dead animal on the street, and because I'm not right in the head and get fascinated by such things, I went to look at him just out of curiousity. Then the friend I picked up joked by saying "what if it's your cat?" I only laughed, but then I noticed his fur patterns, and realization hit me hard (he was missing his head, so I had trouble regonizing him at first...) So yeah, I was all "...oh, holy shit. o_o" and had a hard time believing the sight before me.

And yeah, the regret is there, because we feel that things would go different if only we could get our kitties to stay home. But none of us could forsee something like this happening, so I guess we shouldn't blame ourselves, even if it's hard.

This probably won't make you feel any better, but yeah... Try not to dwell on it too much. And be glad that your kitty didn't leave you on the day before your birthday (like mine did. xD)

*huggles you* ; - ;
